Which is better: using a
keyboard or a pen? It depends, of course. When using paper and a
pen, one can doodle, make a map of the writing, cross out (but not
lose what one has crossed out) and so on.
Nowadays, most of us use the
keyboard first. Why not try something different, then, and use the
pen to get your first ideas down on paper? By retyping your work,
you will be forced to see your writing again and will, no doubt,
make lots of changes.
Another effect may be a change in
your writing style. Somehow, writing on paper might seem a bit
less formal. Messier, yes, but why not give it a try? You might be
surprised to find you like a pen better, at least for the first
draft or two.
