The little word, "bug," has quite a
few interesting meanings in English. One of the most common is
used to refer to an insect as a bug (Get that bug!
It's going to land in the soup!)
And, when our computer or other
machine won't work, we often refer to a bug in the program.
Other interesting uses include: to bug meaning to plant a
listening device (The office was bugged by the CIA.);
bug off!, meaning to go away (Bug off! I'm trying to
work!); firebug, a person who loves to play with fire (My
friend loves to poke the campfire; she's a real firebug!)
