Eva's charming story of her dog and a new baby is sure to warm your heart.

 A Special Relationship
by Eva

When I lived in Slovakia, my parents had a dog. It was a very nice big German Shepherd and he watched the property day and night. We all loved him. When my son was born and I came home from the maternity hospital with the baby, he just sniffed the baby carriage and knew that we had a new family member. The dog, "Amor," loved my son, Martin. They played together in the backyard and in the garden. I feared the dog many times because the dog was huge. One time I was outside with Martin and he played as usual with Amor. I noticed that Martin bothered Amor with a stick. I told Martin, "Stop it." But Martin was too small and ignored me. I raised my voice because I thought that Martin hadn't heard me. And what happened next? Amor started to bark at me to protect Martin. I was so surprised and suddenly understood the special relationship between them.
