Sharing our Work on Showing versus Telling

February 4 and 5, 2004

 

Today, we will be begin with class sharing of good examples of showing. Then, we will identify and explain our favourites in a short paragraph.
 

Class Sharing:

Students will offer examples for class discussion.

For each example of showing, the class will suggest what is being shown by the example.

The teacher will print a sheet with several examples.

Assignment:

What was your second most and first most favourite student example? Explain why you like each in a standard, 125-word, paragraph.

Your first example should explain your second favourite. The second example should explain your first choice.

Bring your paragraph to class next week.
