The Three Most Important Rules for Writing

Today, at our first class, students will share their three most important rules of writing. What do you think they will be?
 

Writing Exercise:

What, in your opinion, are the three most important rules of writing? Write your answer as a short, 100-word, paragraph. Explain your reasons for each of the three rules.

Begin with a clear topic sentence and end with a good concluding sentence.

Homework:

• Take your rough draft home with you today.

• Make at least five corrections to the draft and recopy the paragraph.

• Bring both your original and your new copy to class next week.
