Writing the Body Paragraph

March 17, 2005

Today, we will briefly discuss body paragraph writing. Then, all students will write a practice paragraph, in class. We will examine the effectiveness of student topic, example and concluding sentences for these paragraphs.

Writing a Body Paragraph (Practice):

Write a 100 to 125-word paragraph on the following topic: “Outline a model physical fitness plan.” In your sentences, provide three steps a person must take in order to be successful.

Class Discussion:

Students will share the results of their paragraph writing for comment, correction and appreciation.


•Take your rough draft home with you today.

• Make at least five corrections to the draft and recopy the paragraph.

• Hand in your original and your revised copy to class next week.
