PEARSON ADULT LEARNING CENTRE
Advanced Composition: Revision
October 19, 2000

This week, all students need to bring a short paragraph to work on in class. If not, write about any favourite topic in 50 words, then revise.

You will follow the same instructions as the teacher used last week. Revise and tighten, then add or clarify. Finally, if you have time, check your grammar and usage and, very last of all, check spelling. Write two sentences that comment on what you changed in your writing during the revision or a question you have about revising your writing.

"Tighten and clean your language." Peter Elbow in his book, Writing with Power.

"Insert some little introductions or clarifications that may make all the difference in the world to a reader's staying with you or not."   —Peter Elbow

"Remove mistakes in grammar and usage." —Peter Elbow
