Welcome to Civic Studies 11

 

Grade 11 Credit Course –Students should have passed English 10 to take this course.

Course Text: Civics Today - $100 Textbook Deposit ($80 refunded upon return of book in good condition)

Course Description:

This course focuses on the political institutions of Canada, political decision-making, and what it means to be an informed, participating, and responsible citizen in local, national, and global contexts. By the end of this course, we hope that you will be able to define what a good citizen is—in your classroom, school, community, country, and the world—and to state what being a citizen means to you.

Course Information:

Classes are on Monday and Wednesday afternoon – 4 pm to 6:30 p.m.

Focus will be on vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and discussion work.

Projects, presentations, class participation and quizzes will form the basis of course assessment.
