Welcome to the Science 10 Assignment Page

These are the assignments for the daytime Science 10 class, held Tuesday and Thursday from 12-2:30 p.m., September to January.

Your weekly assignments will be posted here so if you miss class, you can still be up to date. We should have a challenging and interesting semester covering a variety of science topics including ecology, nutrition, chemistry, and physics.

 

January 19, 2010

We wrote the Chemistry Test today. Make up tests on Thursday.

 

Important dates:

Monday, January 25th: Reregistration for next term and get schedules.

Monday, February 1st:  new term begins.

Chemistry Test: Tuesday, January 19

In class today, we worked on pages 49-51 and reviewed for the unit test.

 

Homework:

Review the Chemistry workbook.

Do the Review Crossword on page 52.

In class today, we reviewed bonding and worked on pages 43-44. (2 handouts)

December 15, 2009

No class on Thursday, December 17-Come to the Potluck Christmas Party! Please bring a dish to share with four to six people, and bring your own plate and fork and/or spoon.

 

In class today, we worked on pages 11-17. (2 handouts)

1. Finish your Review Food Guide and practice explaining it.

2. Everyone will present their Meal Plan for their person next day.

3. Read pages 40-45 and underline the important parts to remember.

In class today, we did student presentations on vitamins and minerals, and worked on Canada’s Food Guide. (2 handouts)

 

Homework:

  1. Create your own Food Guide at this website

Choose “Create My Food Guide” and follow the instructions. Print yours in English!!!!

  1. Review Your copy of the Canada Food Guide.

In class today we either went on a field trip or did a lab in class depending on the weather.

Please bring $5 for the Ecology workbook on the day of the test.

For Tuesday, October 6th, please bring a warm coat and an umbrella for our field trip.

Homework for next day:

  1. Reread pages 38-44. Skip pages 42 and 45-47.
  2. Complete any graphs we didn’t finish in class
  3. Prepare for the Test: How? Scan your books, rereading the important points. Review at any notes or exercises we did in class.

In class today I introduced the course, and sold Introduction to Science workbooks. We worked on pages 1-4.

Homework:

  1. Reread pages 1-4.
  2. Complete page 4 Unit Assignment for Tuesday, September 22

Use the Internet to research a job that requires science. This is good site for BC:  Workfutures BC  

Your report should include:

1.      Job title and description

2.      Training required

3.      Personality traits

4.      Salary Range

5.      Job Prospects

It can be in point form; brief is good; use your own words-do not print out or copy from the Internet
