"Street Directions": Writing an Anecdote
March 18, 2005

This week, we will continue working on the reading "Street Directions" by Andy Rooney on page 58 of your new textbook.

Today’s Class Work:

  1. First we will take a Vocabulary Challenge Quiz on last week’s vocabulary.
  2. Next, student sentences will be shared on the screen for comment and suggestions
  3. Then we will discuss what makes a good anecdote (little story).
  4. Finally, students will begin writing a short anecdote about an annoyance that bothers them in their daily lives.

Homework:

Finish writing your short anecdote (100 to 125 words).

Revise and correct your writing at least once.

Bring your completed work to class on April 1. NOTE: no class next week on Good Friday. Have a safe and happy Easter holiday weekend!
