  Literature and Composition 4 (Louise); Current Assignment
 

 

This class for students in English Level 4A and 4B is held every Thursday from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. in Room 186

The textbook we are using is called Pre-GED Reading available for sale at $20.00 from your teachers in Room 184 or in class.

Your weekly assignment for Louise's class can be found below, so if you miss class, you can still be up to date. 

November 25, 2004

In class today we read the poem, Back When a Dollar Was a Dollar, on page 61

Homework for next week:

  1. Answer the questions on pages 62-63.
  2. Prepare for your certificate tests by reviewing your Language Exercise books and looking over your writing from this class and your English class, paying attention to the corrections made. Make a list of these errors with corrections if you havenít done so already.
  3. Good luck on your tests  Iíll see you throughout the testing week to wish you luck.

In class today we read the poem, A Picture on the Mantel, on page 191 and Street Directions on page 59.

Homework for next week:

  1. Reread pages 59-60.
  2. Write directions to tell how to get from your home to school. Use the transition words like ďfirst,Ē  ďsecond.Ē
  3. Review the vocabulary from Lesson 1, 5, 15 and 14 from your book.

1. Langston Hughes loved Harlem. Is there a place you love? Write a paragraph of about 100 words about a place you love. Try to show the reader what this place is like. Create a picture for the reader. Remember a title, topic sentence, supporting details and a concluding sentence.

  1. Reread pages 41-44.
  2. Do the questions on pages 44-45, #1-15. Hand in #15.
  3. On page 41, find the main idea for each paragraph. Write the main idea in one sentence in your words for each of the three paragraphs. Bring your work to class next week.

Write three sentences which tell the main three ideas of the television article on page 17. Bring it to class.
