Food Bank DriveThe Food Bank
Tazim's Special Feature

UPDATE:
To date (December 11, 2004), we have collected SIX boxes of food.  We have reached our goal! Thanks to all the students' generous donations. Late donations are still welcome!

The Pearson Adult Learning Centre will be having a food drive for November until December 13. As we approach the holiday season, it is important to realize that there is a segment of our local population in need of basic food items.

We are starting a food drive to raise as much food as we can to donate to the food bank. This year (2004) we'd like to gather at least 6 boxes of food.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank is an organization that helps to feed the hungry and needy people in our communities.

It serves the people of Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and the North Shore. The goal of this organization is to provide food and related assistance to those in need. Please visit their website at: The Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

You have the chance to help out by bringing food items to donate to the food bank. There will be a donation box placed in every classroom at the PALC.

If you are wondering about what you can bring, this list might help you. It outlines the most needed items at the food bank.

-Canned meats, stews and soups
-Canned fish and meats
-Pasta, pasta sauce and rice
-Canned beans, fruits and vegetables
-Baby formula and pablum

The food bank has provided us with 6 boxes to fill with non-perishable (food that does not go bad) items. Let us try to fill all 6 boxes and request more boxes!

Please bring any amount of canned and packaged food to help the recipients of the food bank.

Thank you in advance for your support in this very worthwhile cause.
