Career Planning and Post-Secondary Information
Pat's Weekly Feature

If you’re wondering what type of work you would like to do or where to get a certain education or training program, then check out our vocational counselling services. This service is available to all learning centre students, free of charge.

Elaine Ward is our vocational counsellor, and she can help you make those important decisions about work. Through vocational assessments and career exploration, you can find out what work options you have and how to draft an action plan to help you achieve your career goals.

Elaine has a good knowledge of the British Columbia post-secondary education system and can help you learn how to get into an apprenticeship, technical institute, college or university. She can also refer you to other community resources such as a volunteer agency or an employment assistance agency, depending on what you need.

You can book an appointment to see Elaine at the Pearson office or by calling 604-517-6299. Or just ask any teacher—they will be happy to help you.

To read more about career information resources and post-secondary educational visit our Career Resources Page. Be sure to scroll down past the career resources Websites to see the post-secondary education Websites as well.

Examples of just some of the many useful Websites you will find include the following: Human Resources Canada Jobline, Work Futures, B.C. Post-secondary Transfer Guide, Canadian Careers, and International Credential Evaluation Service.
