Stanley Cup Playoff Hockey
Cheryl's Weekly Feature

Once again it is the time of year when we think of the NHL Hockey Playoffs and the Stanley Cup finals.

The silver Stanley Cup was donated by Lord Stanley, Governor General of Canada in 1892. Although the Vancouver Canucks  have never won the Stanley Cup, fans in BC are always ready and waiting for a taste of victory in the Stanley Cup finals.

The Vancouver Canucks have only gone twice to the Stanley Cup Finals. Their first trip was in 1982 against The New York Islanders and their latest was in 1994 against the New York Rangers. Check out the Vancouver Canucks’ history.

Currently the Vancouver Canucks are in second place in the Western Conference and are just behind first place Dallas. The 2002 winner of the Stanley Cup, The Detroit Red Wings  are presently in fourth spot in the western conference. You can follow the NHL standings.

Many people in Vancouver are already talking about bringing the Stanley Cup to Vancouver this year. Some fans are predicting an all Canadian final with the Canucks against the Ottawa Senators. Hockey fans will have to wait until about the first of June to see if the Vancouver Canucks will be the 2003 winner of the Stanley Cup. Keep cheering !
