Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
The lunar calendar, being 11 to 12 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar,
migrates throughout the seasons. This year Ramadan begins on October 15th.
During this ninth month Muslims observe the Fast of
Ramadan. Lasting for the whole month, Muslims fast during the daylight hours
and in the evening eat small meals and visit with friends and family. It is
a time to strengthen family and community ties as well as a time for worship
