Birds at Deer Lake
Patricia's Weekly Feature

On these warm winter days in February, youíll see many feathered friends as you wander through Deer Lake Park in Burnaby. Colorful male mallard ducks and their dull brown female mates glide peacefully atop the smooth waters. Groups of seagulls and pigeons bask in the sun on the sandy shores. A lone gray heron stands erectly near the cattails. Red breasted robins flit quickly from bush to bush. Canada geese peck hungrily at the grass. High up in a tall bare tree sits a rare golden eagle eyeing its prey in the lake below. Next to noisy Canada Way, itís a pleasure to escape to Deer Lake Park and see the birds on a winterís day.
