Celebration of LightCelebration of Light

This is the largest musical fireworks competition in the world and is held in the summer in Vancouver every year. This competition is held over four nights where four different countries compete to win this prestigious event.

This year's competitors are: Italy on July 26th, China on July 29th, Czech Republic on August 2nd and Mexico on August 5th. All the competitions take place at English Bay in Vancouver.

If you want to add some night time fun to your summer in Vancouver, this event is definitely worth seeing. The spectacular fireworks are set off at 10pm and each show lasts about 25 minutes. On the final night, there is a finale which adds about 5 minutes to the show time.

If you don't want to make the trip to English Bay, there are many other locations to view the fireworks. If you have a radio with you, tune into 101.1 FM to hear the music accompanying the fireworks. You can also judge the fireworks by following the links on the web site below.

I had no idea that fireworks were invented by the Chinese people in the 9th century when a cook accidentally stumbled upon the formula which produced a loud bang and beautiful sparks.

Check out the web site listed below for full details and all the information you want about this event as well as the history of fireworks. Have a safe and happy time at the Celebration of Light.
