Many new graduates will be honoured at the end of this term. Students of all levels have worked hard, and some have reached their final goal—graduation. On June 18, to celebrate graduation and course completion, there will be two ceremonies: one at 10:30 a.m. and one at 6:30 p.m. Graduates wearing caps and gowns will be presented with a transcript of their passing marks.
Some may choose to say a few words about their future plans. It is always inspiring to hear their stories. Two graduates, Bunty Jaswal and Jawood Ashur, are this year’s recipients of the Sherri Hoeflicker Memorial Bursary. Bunty hopes to attend BCIT, and Jawood hopes to attend SFU.
After all the graduates and students have received their transcripts, there will be a potluck feast. This is a good opportunity to taste a variety of ethnic dishes and to mingle with teachers and students. So come and join this graduation celebration.
One way to graduate is to complete the Adult Dogwood Diploma. Here are some complex sentences that explain this option:
If you complete English 12 or Communication 12, you will have one compulsory course leading to an Adult Dogwood Diploma.
If you complete Principles of Math 11, Essentials of Math 11 or Accounting 11, you will have another compulsory course leading to the Adult Dogwood Diploma.
After you have completed Socials 11 or Civics 11 and the above 2 courses, you will need two more grade 12 courses to complete the Adult Dogwood.
If you don’t take Socials 11 or Civics 11, you will need 3 more grade 12 courses to complete the Adult Dogwood.
When you are ready to take another grade 12 course, you should consider some of the following courses that are offered at the Pearson Adult Learning Centre:
Writing 12, Biology 12, Data Management 12, Accounting 12, Math 12, Calculus 12, Family Studies 12, Entrepreneurship 12
Some of these courses are not offered every term and some are offered as self-paced courses. For more information on courses, see the course descriptions on this website.
The Pearson Adult Learning Centre will be open in July and August. Summer registration for new students will begin on July 2 at 9:30, 1:00, 4:00 or 6:30 or July 8 at 1:00 or 6:30.
