Cycling in Metro Vancouver
Bicycling is an excellent way to get
exercise, enjoy the nice weather and sightsee in your
community. The world looks very different from the seat of a
bicycle than from the inside of a car. On a bike you have time
to admire your neighbours’ gardens, smell the flowers and
listen to the birds singing.
This is a great time of year to go biking because
the weather is good and the cities of Metro Vancouver are working to
provide convenient, efficient bikeways and facilities for cyclists.
Here are some resources on the Internet to inspire
you to jump on your bicycle and go for a ride:
• The Vancouver
Area Cycling Coalition is an excellent website to find out
about bicycling in Metro Vancouver. The site has information on
safety, choosing a bike, cycling with children, cycling in the
rain, places to ride, group rides, education and much more.
• Did you know you can take your bike on the bus
and on Skytrain? Visit the
Translink
website for more information.
• Do you want to find the shortest bicycle route
from your home to Moody Park? Visit the
UBC/Google Cycling Planner. You can search for a route with
the shortest distance, least traffic pollution or fewest hills.
