Pearson Adult Learning Centre: Weekly Feature

A great way to help your community and stay fit is to participate in a fun run. The “Child Run” starts next to Vancouver’s Children’s Hospital at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2010. This run is a gentle 5 kilometre route circling through Vancouver’s colourful Queen Elizabeth Park. Food, refreshments, fun prizes and entertainment follow this family event. Plus, the funds raised help support important research in childhood cancer. Another upcoming event is the “Run for Light” on Friday, May 28/2010 at 9:00 p.m. at Lumberman’s Arch in Vancouver’s Stanley Park.
This is one of the few evening fun runs. A glow in the dark T-shirt and a light stick are given out as part of the entry package to help light up this 4.3 kilometre seawall course. While weaving around this glowing route, participants may reflect on the challenges the blind face and know that the funds they’ve contributed for this event will go to assist BC Blind Sports and Recreation.
