B.C.s New Premier-Designate: Christy Clark
by Cheryl

On February 26, 2011 The Liberal Party of BC chose Christy Clark as its new leader which makes her BC’s 35th Premier. However, she is currently The Premier-Designate because she will not be officially sworn in until some time in March, and she does not hold a seat in The Legislature. This means she is currently not a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). She will need to run in a by-election or call a general election to become an MLA. She said today she could run in Gordon Campbell’s riding of Vancouver Point Grey. She also said she will not call a quick election but will move up the date for the HST referendum. This could be on June 24th instead of in September as originally planned.

The leader of the Official Opposition for BC is also going to change soon. The New Democratic Party of BC plans to hold a leadership vote on April 7, 2011. Three candidates are running for the leadership and one of them Mike Farnworth is my MLA. To find your MLA use this link and type in your postal code:
