Go Canucks Go!
by Cheryl

Once again it is the time of year when we think of the NHL Hockey Playoffs and the Stanley Cup finals.

The silver Stanley Cup was donated by Lord Stanley, Governor General of Canada in 1892. Although the Vancouver Canucks  have never won the Stanley Cup, fans in BC are always ready and waiting for a taste of victory in the Stanley Cup finals.

The Vancouver Canucks have only gone twice to the Stanley Cup Finals. Their first trip was in 1982 against The New York Islanders and their latest was in 1994 against the New York Rangers. Check out the Vancouver Canucks’ history.

This has been a great year for Canuck fans. Their team won The President’s Trophy which is awarded to the team with the best record for the season. This guarantees them home ice advantage in every playoff series.

Also, Daniel Sedin won the Hart Trophy for the player with the most points. His twin brother Henrik won the Hart Trophy last year! Although these awards are great achievements, everyone is hoping Vancouver will win their first Stanley Cup!

May 16, 2011 is game one of the Western Conference final. The Canucks will play The San Jose Sharks. When they eliminate the Sharks in the best of seven series, the Canucks will meet the winner in of the Eastern Conference final between The Tampa Bay Lightning and The Boston Bruins.

Grab a seat in front of your TV, and cheer on our Canucks this week!
