Internet Words

The words below were collected by students in response to an assignment to find  words using the Internet. Use the link beside each word to explore the resource yourself.

Smouch (noun)

Groovy (adjective) World Wide Words
Marvelous, wonderful. In the 1960’s it came into use. Not current usage. Hippies tended to use it the most. Wow, that's groovy man!

Scotch (verb) World Wide Words
It means to stop or obstruct. Shakespeare uses this word in Macbeth. He hath scotched the snake, not killed it. He scotched that idea.

Clickstream (noun) Netlingo
It is the path the user takes when he or she navigates in cyberspace. Brad needs to make the clickstream easier for the ALC students using the Web site.

Cobweb site (noun) Netlingo
A World Wide Web site that hasn’t been updated in a long time is called a cobweb site. Usually it has a lot of linkrot (dead links or mistakes)

Quiche (noun) Cool Word
A kind of food made of egg custard in the shape of a pie. People like quiche with onions, spinach, mushrooms.

Summit  (Noun)
Means the highest point. How nice it is to approach the summit of humanity. It means a meeting of top leaders. Yeltsin and Clinton held a summit meeting in Vancouver in 1993.
