Vocabulary Notes from Science Level 3

A method is a way of doing things. A recipe is a method.

Recorded history is written history, using some kind of language.

Predictions are things like saying what the weather will be like this afternoon.

A forecast is what a weather prediction is called.

Matter is “stuff” or material. We are made of matter.

Getting a deeper voice is one of the changes that a boy undergoes (experiences) when he is about 12 years old.

We all undergo (experience) changes as we get older. For example, my hair is going grey and falling out.

“For its own sake” means without a special reason.

Basic research is to understand how things work. Applied research is to solve a special problem.

A fertilizer is plant food. Usually the chemicals, phosphorus, nitrogen, and potassium.
