Rants and Raves
A Rant about Showing Off
Last week, I attended my alumni reunion held in a Coquitlam restaurant. Most of the alumni are middle-aged house wives because my university is for women. We enjoyed chatting about the old days and shared the fellow spirit. But a lady who sat across from me got on my nerves.
“My brand new apartment has an excellent view of English Bay,” she continued, “and the university my daughter attends is the best in dental science.” She kept on blowing her own horn. She made me upset. Silently, I smiled at her. I shouted inside that I would never speak like her no matter if I were a billionaire. I need not mention that I am not jealous of her possessions nor I am superior to her mentally.
